Frequently Asked Questions
- What times are programs presented in the Sudekum Planetarium? The Sudekum show schedule varies throughout the year. Click here to get the most current program information and showtimes.
- How much are planetarium tickets? Planetarium tickets may be purchased in addition to regular admission to the Adventure Science Center. All planetarium tickets are $6 per show for non-members and $4 per show for members. The Family Deluxe Membership and ASC Contributing Memberships include free passes to planetarium shows (the number of passes varies depending on the membership level).
- What if I only want to attend a show in the Sudekum Planetarium and not tour the Adventure Science Center?
During normal hours for the Adventure Science Center, visitors must pay general admission to the Adventure Science Center in order to purchase a ticket for the Sudekum Planetarium. The only exception to this is our Senior Sneakers program. On Wednesday afternoons, senior citizens can "sneak in" to the Sudekum Planetarium without purchasing general admission to the Science Center.
Or, join us on the Second Saturday of each month for after-hours showings in the Sudekum Planetarium. Tickets are just $6 per show for non-members and $4 per show for members. A perfect way to start your evening or a great after-dinner date!
- Are children under age 2 required to pay for a ticket to the planetarium? Children age 2 and under may only be admitted to a planetarium show for free if they are seated in an adult’s lap. If you wish your child to be seated separately, a separate ticket is required.
- Is there a show about what’s visible in the current night sky? Yes! Sit back, relax, and watch the stars come out during Skies Over Nashville, a LIVE program that highlights the stars, constellations, and planets visible in the evening at this time of year. It's a great opportunity to ask questions or even try to stump the presenter. Check our schedule for show times.
- What is Space Chase? Space Chase is our new 15,000 square foot addition to Adventure Science Center, where you can discover the wonders of the Universe through a variety of hands-on, interactive exhibits. Visit Space Chase as part of your general admission to Adventure Science Center. Learn more here!
- What kind of technology is used in the new Sudekum Planetarium? At the center of the new Sudekum Planetarium is the GOTO Chiron optical star projector that fills the dome with more than 6.5 million stars (the previous star ball projected 2,500). This breathtakingly realistic night sky is combined with a Digistar 3, high-definition, full-dome system that projects images and animations of the wonders of the universe from horizon to horizon. No other planetarium in the country offers the seamless integration of these two technologies. The gently sloping seating and powerful 5.1 surround sound system give the visitors to the Sudekum a unique, immersive and exhilarating experience. Learn more about our new planetarium technology here.
- Are Sudekum Planetarium's original productions available in other planetariums? Yes! Sudekum Planetarium has been producing original programming for planetariums since 1987. Learn more here!
